The Norfolk Stripes Shawl is made with a coastal inspired colour palette of dark blue, denim blue, English mustard and cream. With a variety of stitches, it’s interesting to work and with the 5mm hook, it grows quickly. The larger hook size also encourages drape.

The recommended yarn is Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim DK and Cotton DK, but any cotton DK with drape would be suitable. The pattern calls for Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim DK in Milk (06) 2 x 100g, Dark Denim (11) 1 x 100g, New Denim (02) 1 x 100g and Debbie Bliss Cotton DK in English Mustard (75) 2 x 50g.

The finished size after blocking is 170cm/67” x 69cm/27”.

To check gauge, swatch the first 6 rows of the pattern and block. From centre top to point is 10cm/4” approximately. Do not be too concerned about achieving the exact gauge. If your stitches and tension are consistent and the edges are not puckering as you work each row, the finished shawl will be fine.

ERRATA - in UK version only
For row 15, it should be (1tr, 1ch) rather than (1dtr, 1ch), so the entire row uses tr not dtr. A corrected version will be available in the next few days.
