As an Albertan, I have a love for all moose. I was asked by a friend to design a new moose for her daughter’s collection. Norman- the Northlands Moose is what came off my needles.
Norman is free standing and sports a turtle neck heavy pullover that is worked in intarsia. He is heavily embellished with jingle bells, buttons, beads and Christmas decorations.
He knows that he is “the man” and sure to attract a lot of attention this Christmas.
He stands 12” tall and is 6” at the widest point but his ego is the size of Superman.
I have labelled this an Intermediate knit because it includes: short rows, bobbles, intarsia, kfb increases, and chart knitting as well as the usual knit and purl. It is not a HARD design to knit, but it is not a :“quick knit”. That said, the pattern gives you all the instructions and help that you need to create a dapper Norman of your own.
Using one ball (50g) of Schachenmayr Baby Smiles yarn and about 35+ g of Schachenmayr Bravo for the pullover, this design does not
take a lot of yarn.
Give Norman a try - he makes a great Christmas gift. xo wendy
