This pattern is part of the Fashion Framework Series. It is based on a traditional gansey. It includes a Channel Island Cast On, an overlapped Garter stitch welt, a plain band with initial, a stockinette stitch underarm gusset growing from the center of the 3-stitch “seam” at the garment’s sides and a rolled neckband. To make the neck more comfortable, inverted triangle gussets are added at the neckline when joining the front and back. The motifs used were selected to represent traditional gansey patterns associated with a variety of regions.
