I loved the colorwork motif of the North Sister Sweater so much that I wanted to make cardigan and vest versions. This set-in sleeve top is worked top-down starting with the back panel, fronts are picked up from the shoulder shaping stitches and worked with V-neck and underarm shaping. All the pieces are joined to work in the round for the body and colorwork with a steek panel the same width as the final button band so that you can try on as you go. Stitches for the sleeves or arm band are picked up and worked top-down. The double-knit button band is worked as one piece with invisible vertical buttonholes. Lastly, the steek is cut open for the final reveal!

Needles
Ribbing: US 6/4 mm
Main: US 7/4.5 mm needles on long circular and preferred needles for small circumference knitting (long circular or double pointed needles)
If a different needle size is needed to obtain gauge, go down one US needle size for the ribbing.

Gauge
19 sts and 24 rows/rnds – 4”/10 cm on larger needles, measured over colorwork and stockinette after blocking.

Notions
Darning needle, stitch markers, scissors, and scrap yarn or stitch holders, four-six buttons. Sample cardigan uses four 7/8”/2.2 cm buttons and sample vest uses six 3/4”/1.8 cm buttons.
