’ The north wind doth blow and we shall have snow
and what will poor robin do then, poor thing?
He’ll sit in a barn to keep himself warm
and hide his head under his wing, poor thing!’

You won’t need to hide like poor robin with this super simple hat and cowl to keep you warm! We haven’t had any snow here yet, but that north wind’s been pretty perishing!
I knitted mine with Stylecraft DK in # 1203 Silver in medium size, but any DK yarn will do. This is a really simple pattern that is just a rectangle folded and joined in the round with buttons and the hat is just sewn across the top. There are no buttonholes so you can use any number and size of buttons you like. I used some prettily painted, square craft buttons. The slightly ‘quilted’ effect rib stitch makes it feel thicker and warmer.
