Inspired by snow days and ice storms, Norther is a cuff-down sock pattern featuring an intuitive knit/purl texture that runs down the leg and foot like freezing rain. In Newfoundland English, Norther refers to the sharp winter wind that blows in from the north, bringing snow, sleet and a desire to stay inside. These socks are the perfect snow day knit and with a wide size range, it has the potential to become your go-to sock pattern for all the knit-worthy people in your life.

Notes
When choosing yarn for this project, look for “plump” sock yarns that have great stitch definition. Heavier weight sock yarns work best for this project.

During testing, knitters noted that achieving gauge was tricky due to the purling. You may want to swatch for this project by working up a baby or toddler size.

This pattern has a standard cuff-down construction and all sizes are separated for ease of knitting. Please read through the pattern prior to knitting and highlight appropriate instructions for your chosen size.
