This backpack is worked in the round from the top-down with garter-knit straps worked sideways and an i-cord drawstring to close. You start with a broken-rib top edge, then begin the colorwork chart.

For this project you need:

  • MC - 300 yards worsted wool CC1 - 175 yards worsted wool CC2 - 150 yards worsted wool

Sample shown used Stonehedge Fiber Mill’s Shepherds Wool Worsted :

  • MC - Wheat CC1 - Blue Spruce CC2 - Garnet

Lightly felted when done, the bag is large enough to carry a mid-sized project and there are two holes worked in the bottom border to allow travelling knitters to protect the yarn in the backpack while knitting and walking knitting and walking … since after all, not all those who wander are lost!
