Pattern includes all three versions of this hat: Beanie, Beret and Extra Slouchy Beret.

Nouveau Bohemia is a quick and easy lace and cable beanie/beret design to keep you or a loved one warm during cold days!

I enjoy wearing slouchy hats for their beauty and girly look but I find that I do still crave beanies when the weather is particularly cold and I want the comfort of a hat hugging my head. With this in mind I decided to make a pattern that you could make either as a beanie or a beret – the best of both worlds! Being a lover of hand dyed yarn, I also wanted to make a pattern that would work with both variegated and solid colors. Coincidentally (and happily!) I think that the pattern would also lend itself beautifully to handspun yarns. I knew I wanted this to be a fun and casual style – totally Bohemian! – using fine yarns that feel wonderfully soft on your head. Thus, Nouveau Bohemia: a rich Boho look for those who can’t give up decadent yarns but still love to look “artsy.”

This pattern has been extensively test knit and edited. Thank you to all my lovely testers!
