I am very smitten with the Twisted Fifties Fadients by Dibadu. Hence, I wanted to create a design that would do each individual color justice as well as the whole gradient. My first project with that goal was Starry Starry Night which you can find in my Ravelry store. Numilumi is the second design of this series. Each module requires roughly the same amount of yarn, and therefore, you will be able to max out on this gorgeous fiber luxury. It would be wise to knit a swatch and to come roughly to the same result, as I didn’t have a lot of yarn left.

Of course, you can use other yarns as well. I knitted a second version using Schoppel Laceball Elefantentreffen. I knitted with two strands at the same time to achieve a longer color gradient. I used 4 balls and made sure that I had 2 almost identical balls that I could pair up. If you want to do the same, make sure that each pair starts at a different point in the color gradient. You can just as well use 2 or 4 individual gradients.

Although Numilumi is a modular knit but there is no seaming involved as you will join the modules as you go. This pattern includes short rows. You will find photo tutorials on this technique as well as the joining methods. If you prefer other short row methods they can be used as well.

All instructions are given in written and charted form along with graphics to explain the setup. But if you have any questions or feel like you struggle, send me a personal note on Ravelry or an email and I’ll be happy to help you along the way.

You can also join the Funnies Knitters group that Barbara has created for the Dibadu lovers. She was kind enough to devote one thread to Ursa Major Knits designs. So you can ask your questions there as well. We might even do KALs at some point. You are welcome to join us.
