This is the first of TWO patterns in this set - Oblique comes together with Acute for free. You can download the set from this pattern page, or from the Acute pattern page - they both link to the same download.

You’re not going to get much sharper chevrons in sock form that this baby! And it’s PERFECT for self-striping or slow colour-change yarns like Noro.

An oblique angle, according to the Oxford Dictionary, is an angle that is not a right angle or a multiple of a right angle. An Oblique sock, according to RedScot’s Dictionary of Made-Up Words (OUP 2018), is a very simple pattern that creates a sock with angles that are not right angles or multiples of right angles. Or if they have, it’s purely by accident.

This is a simple, four-corner cuff down, heel-flap, star-toed sock with some sharp chevrons, written especially for fingering yarns that are self-striping or colour-changing. The first pattern in this set of 2 patterns uses DK yarn to create the same sharp angled effect.

Due to the nature of the stitch pattern, if you can’t decide between the sizes which one to make, I would err on the side of choosing the larger size. Small is small, for example!

Errata: Heelflap Row 11 should read: *sl1, ktbl, sl1 x2, ktbl, sl1, k2tog, psso, ktbl, sl1, ktbl x3; rep from *.
