Ocean Drive are socks that combine two of my loves: art deco architecture and socks with stripes. These scalloped stripes are created using slipped stitches (also known as mosaic knitting) and are reminiscent of the arches and curves found on buildings in the art deco mecca of Ocean Drive in Miami. The perfect pair of socks for use with a 5-colour mini skein set or to scrap bust those tiny bits of beautiful leftover yarn. Knit in the round from the cuff to the toe, available in three adult sizes, with full and condensed instructions included. These fun scalloped socks will fly off your needles in no time!

Needles and Notions
US1 / 2.25 mm 9” circular knitting needles; or 32” circular knitting needles; or double pointed knitting needles for working small sock circumference in the round in your preferred method, or size to obtain gauge.

Yarn and Yardage
This pattern uses five 20 gram mini skeins, which will be enough to knit any size. Don’t feel limited by only mini skeins though, as this is a perfect scrap busting project. You really don’t need to follow any sort of striping pattern if you don’t want to, and who even said socks need to match?!

You will need approximately 20 grams of fingering weight yarn for MC (heels, toes and cuffs), and about 10 grams for each C1, C2, C3 and C4.

If you do not plan to follow the striping pattern as written, each stripe uses approximately 2 grams per stripe per sock.

These are the yarns I used for my socks:
MC (heels, toes and cuffs) - Lichen and Lace 80/20 Sock 100g (3.5 oz) / 365 yds (333 m); 80% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% Nylon in Black Walnut
C1 - Midknit Cravings Light Sock 100 g (3.5 oz) / 437 yds (400 m); 85% Superwash Merino, 15% Nylon in Grandpa’s Gingersnaps
C2 - Midknit Cravings Light Sock 100 g (3.5 oz) / 437 yds (400 m); 85% Superwash Merino, 15% Nylon in Whiskers
C3 - Fidley Dyeworks Merino Sock 100 g (3.5 oz) / 462 yds (422 m); 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon in Julien
C4 - Midknit Cravings Light Sock 100 g (3.5 oz) / 437 yds (400 m); 85% Superwash Merino, 15% Nylon in My Two Cents

Gauge
34 sts and 48 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch in the round, blocked.

Finished Measurements
The finished sock circumference is 7 (8, 9)” / 18 (20, 23) cm, to be worked with approximately 1” / 2.5 cm negative ease.
