Tactile Fiber Arts’ Occidental DK is wonderful for these mitts; it’s soft but springy and the yak content makes them very warm!

These fingerless mitts are cast on at the bottom with an interesting twisted detail that must be worked on straight needles. The work is then joined and knit in the round, including the ambidextrous thumb gusset, in one piece without breaking the yarn.

My work has a wonderful office assistant, Viviana, who always has very cold hands. Fortunately, she also has a very warm heart. These were designed for her.
