The pattern is a modified feather and fan with curves of yarn-overs coming to points, separated by purl rows (on the RS) for definition of the curves. Sizing and gauge are not particularly important (it’s a scarf, after all), so really just whatever feels and looks good. It knits up with odd bulges because of the pattern, so reasonably aggressive blocking is necessary to flatten it and bring out the lace pattern. I used one single skein of Ginger’s Hand Dyed Yakety-Yak 4ply (color: Sound and Fury), and just knit until I was out of yarn.

Erratum corrige: in the chart, row three, all of the knits should be purls. (The written-out pattern is correct.)
