The cardigan is the result of asking mothers what they prefer for their babies: A simple and thin cardigan with a good fit and easy to dress the baby.

0-1 (3, 6, 9, 12-18) months
The finished measurement around chest is 45cm/17.75” (48cm/19”, 51cm/20”, 52.5cm/20.5”, 57cm/22.5”)

Note! Babies are very different in sizing, so measure the child before deciding upon a size.

Approx yarn estimate: 275/300 (300/337, 350/382, 400/437, 450/492) m/yd Coast by Holstgarn, light fingering weight, 55% merino, 45% cotton, 350m/383yd per 50g/1.76oz

The pattern is suitable for a large range of light fingering weight yarns. You could choose a yarn with linen or wool content, or a natural woolen yarn would be very suitable, too.

Gauge:
27 sts x 36 rows over 10cm x 10cm/4” x 4” with 3.0mm/US 2½ needles in stst after wet blocking.

This is a thin cardigan worked in one piece top-down with simple raglan shaping. Stitches are cast on for the neck, then markers are placed to define the raglan shaping. The knitting is worked flat, with increases to create the raglan line.
The neckline is lowered with short-rows at the neck for a better fit. The button bands are worked in one piece with the cardigan and the buttonholes are starting below the rib at the neck (to avoid buttons at the chin). While working the raglan increases a heart in reverse stockinette stitch is worked at the back.
After working the raglan increases, the stitches from the sleeves and body are divided and work is continued to complete the body. Afterward, the sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round to the cuff.
