I love cabled edges. There’s something about the smooth, sloping, twisting curve of a loose cable that reminds me of a river slowly winding through a meadow, just meandering along, oblivious of the time passing. Being from Texas, we love to grab our inner tubes and just laze along that river, going with the gentle current and forgetting everything on the other side. I wanted a cozy, comfy blanket to use in winter that reminded me of the hot lazy summer days. But most cables require attention and I also wanted to be able to knit it at night, after the kids had gone to bed, and I’d been busy all day and was pleasantly worn out from my big, crazy family and working all day.

Knit in bulky yarn on large needles, this blanket knits up very quickly. The cable and the increasing make it just interesting enough to not get bored, but easy enough to watch a movie, kids or cars go by, if that’s your thing, while working on it. I hope you enjoy knitting and snuggling up under it.

Can be knit in any gauge, just follow the pattern until you reach the size you want. A smaller gauge will yield a smaller blanket.

ERRATA:

  1. Row 3 should not have increases. Increases are made on even rows.
  2. In the cable section, the odd rows starting with row 3 should have k13 not k3.**

Feel free to sell or give away anything you make from this pattern, just don’t be an asshole and sell the pattern itself or rewrite it and present it as your own. Enjoy your blanket.
