The first in a series of patterns inspired by Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files, this narrow wrap is inspired by the character Molly Carpenter. Specifically designed to showcase the amazing display of colours in Knitter’s Nightmare variegated sock yarn, this pattern has enough pattern interest to keep the design interesting without losing it in the colour changes. The final piece is a dance of movement, colour, and light, just like her namesake.

The pattern uses one entire 100g skein of Knitters Nightmare in the Batty sock base, 366 metres (400 yards) per skein, in the “Electric Funeral” colourway.

Skills Needed

  • Basic knitting skills: knit, purl, two stitch decreases (k2tog and ssk), slipping a stitch, and yarn over (yo).
  • Intermediate knitting skills: knitting through the back loop, three stitch decrease (sl2, k1, p2sso), and 2 x 1 cable crosses.

This pattern also features original artwork by the amazingly talented Margaret Salter, who will be gracing these patterns throughout the series. Thank you Maggie!
