Opal Sands is a full-size, crescent-shaped knitted lace pattern that is worked from the top down. Cast on with 8 sts for the first small lace section, follow with ribs and wrapped stitches, finish the shawl body with Japanese Wave Lace, and then put the finishing touch on the shawl with the Eyelets and Cables Border Stitch. I used about 750 yards of fingering weight to knit this shawl, and the finished and blocked measurements are 7 feet in length and 22 inches at its center, deepest point. Full written instructions, row counts, as well as charts are included in the pattern.
