Open Road Vest is a cozy and easy knit, perfect for spring layering. This A-line top has a draped hem that’s slightly longer at the sides — a silhouette that pairs amazingly with your favorite skinny jeans and boots, while still looking right at home layered over a flowing maxi dress. You can work this top with a cowl neckline as pictured, or work a simple trim to mirror the armhole finishing.

This pattern requires knowledge of basic increasing and decreasing. Prior experience with incorporating multiple sets of directions at the same time is helpful, as the center panel is shaped at the same time as working other body shaping.

Suggested Yarn: Harrisville Silk and Wool, or other DK weight yarn that knits to gauge

Sizes: 30 (34, 38, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 62)” / 76 (86.5, 96.5, 106.5, 117, 127, 137, 147.5, 157.5) cm

Choose a size that’s close to your upper bust measurement for the best fit and to prevent gaping at the armholes. Don’t be afraid of a bit of negative ease at the full bust - this garment is intended to be close fitting at the bust, with A-line shaping providing plenty of positive ease around the hips. Sample shown is 34”, worn with 1” negative ease at the upper bust, and 4” of negative ease at the full bust (35” upper bust, 38” full bust body measurements).

Yarn Requirements: 660 (740, 820, 915, 1015, 1095, 1170, 1265, 1335) yds / 603 (676, 749, 836, 928, 1001, 1069, 1156, 1220) m

Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette st
