Flirt with brioche in this fun hat, perfect for those aran or worsted weight skeins that you can’t figure out what to do with! A chunky cable sets it apart, making it a modern, bold accessory in bright colors, or an understated addition in neutrals or single-color brioche. Perfect for your first brioche project, and completely reversible, grab your favorite skeins and cast on!

Needle sizes required: size US 5 16” circular and size 7 US 32” or 40” circular for magic loop.

Gauge: 4.5 sts/inch in garter stitch on larger needles.

Sizes: Adult Small (Medium, Large)
Note: if a larger or smaller size is desired, simply add or decrease stitches by multiples of 12.

Yarn: Asylum Fibers Errant Aran in the colorways I’m Alive and Forbidden (approximately 50g or 90 yards of each), or other worsted weight or Aran weight yarn. There can be great variations in aran and worsted weight yarn, so I recommend switching the cast on that you knit, rather than the needle size, to account for differences in gauge.

Thanks so much to Stephanie from Asylum Fibers for providing yarn support for this pattern!

Thanks as well to my excellent test knitters @mybelovedadoria, @sarad2rn, @emmeurer and @elizabethscrafting for their speedy knitting and excellent feedback!

About the Name: Opposite, Opposite was inspired by all of the beautiful yarns we have in store for us in the knitting community, all the way from the farm-grown and naturally colored, to the neon-dyed and super soft merino yarns, and everything in-between! Even though it’s all yarn, all crafted with love, it is opposite, opposite. (It also happens to be a favorite saying of the character Patterson on Blindspot, played by the designer’s favorite actress, Ashley Johnson.)
