While knitting these I had visions of being in a sailboat on a calm, serene lake, the water gently lapping at the hull. Once I put the sock on however, the pattern completely transformed into something different, and I no longer was in calm waters, but engulfed in whirls and swirls and eddies. I’ve named these Optics, because they really are a bit of an illusion.

I’ve written this pattern for the wonderful sock knitters in the facebook group Addicted To Sock Knitting, because after I posted a wip picture I got many requests for it. I am NOT a pattern writer, and this is the first pattern I’ve ever attempted to write, which is why it is offered for free. I admire all you designers out there because writing a pattern for others is a daunting experience. *** I am sorry there is not yet a picture available of the completed sock. At the time of publishing this I had yet to get the cuff finished. I had an oops moment with the sock 12 hours prior to publishing and had to rip out and redo 3/4 of the sock.

This pattern gives you step by step instructions for producing a more ROUNDED TOE, as well as the pattern design used.

NOTE: There are no instructions for the heel. When you are ready to knit the heel, you will knit your preferred heel. I have done the Fish Lips Kiss Heel by Sox Therapist. This is a paid pattern ($1) and available here on Ravelry.
