Kindle case suitable for a male or female owner.

Description from pattern:
Lined and moderately protective case for Amazon Kindle in basic Tunisian stitch. It has a full-length closing flap with loops for fastening. For the protection of the Kindle, it has been designed with no metal catch, no magnetic catch, no bulky catch, and no catch to press. It contains two pockets: one for the Kindle; one for a piece of stiffening card for minimal protection of the Kindle’s glass screen.

Notes

  • This case gives minimum protection against daily wear and tear during storage, but will not protect against e.g. being dropped or being crushed by heavy objects.
  • The pattern can be adjusted to fit a Satnav by casting on just 16 sts (see Funkyforty’s project).

Requirements

  • Yarn: 25g (approx 80 yd or 75m) of any DK or 8 ply yarn.
  • Hook: 5mm Tunisian hook. (UK and Canadian size 6; US afghan hook size 8)
  • Lining: a quarter-yard or quarter-metre of taffeta lining fabric in contrast colour.
  • Stiffening fabric: a rectangle of iron-on stiffening fabric, approx 32 x 5in, or 81.5 x 12.75cm.
  • Optional extra hook: 5mm crochet hook
  • Notions: Stitch marker, tape measure, tapestry needle or bodkin, sewing notions, newspaper and pen for making paper pattern, piece of card same size as Kindle, iron.
