My tribute to the Southern Resident orca pod of the Salish Sea in WA state.

Orcinus Mittens are knit in the round from the bottom-up and include shaped thumb gussets and Latvian braids.

Pattern can be worked with a long circular needle and Magic Loop or with double-pointed needles.

Size is about a women’s medium at a gauge of 9 stitches/inch. The hand circumference measures about 7.75 inches and the wrist circumference at 6 2/3 inches. Sizing can be adjusted by modifying the gauge by changing needle sizes.
At a gauge of 8 stitches and rows/inch, hand circumference will be about 8.75 inches, and length from wrist to top will be about 8.25 inches. Recommend Needle Size US2 for a gauge of 8 stitches/inch, but swatch as always.

I used about 140 yards of Main Color (white) and about 150 yards of Contrasting Color (black).
