My friend’s sweetheart works in an Oregon Mill in very cold temperatures during the winter. He requested a soft, thick cabled earflap hat to keep his head and ears warm during his long hours on the job. I chose a simple 8 stitch cable that reminds me of the gnarly bark on Oregon’s old growth fir trees. Baby alpaca was a natural choice for softness. Both the cabled texture and bulky yarn provide added warmth for the coldest winter days.
The pattern is an easy knit for those familiar with simple cables.
