This shawl can be knitted in any yarn: the yardage and final size will differ.

The bottom edging is worked first, and then the stitches are picked up along the straight edge for the centre and side laces. The top edging is knitted on sideways, until only the stitches of the left side edging and the top edging remain. These are then grafted.
