This shawl was released in collaboration with Sweater Sisters in June 2018, a complete kit with yarn (with a choice of colours)and pattern is available on their website.

Inspired by the Neo-Platonic and Pastoral ideals of the seventeenth century, this gently romantic shawl is named for the author Katherine Philips.

Using simple techniques to create an extremely flattering and wearable shape, this shawl has a delicate and elegant lace border that can be adjusted to suit your yarn.

Sample shown in Handmaiden Fine Yarn ‘Marrakesh’ (Lace / 2 Ply; 765 yds / 700 m per 100g; 70% Silk / 30% Camel) in the Jacobean Blue colour way.

Notes
Construction
The shawl begins with a basic triangular shape (sections I and II on diagram below), at regular points additional columns of yarn overs (labelled A-F) are worked to produce additional sections (Part 1, Sections 2-4; III-VIII on diagram) to each side of the central stitch (CS).

Stitch Counts
Stitch counts are given at the end of each increased row, for additional stitch counts for each section – an additional document is available to download separately from Ravelry.

Edging
If you wish to extend the edging, additional row instructions (Rows 237-252) are provided. Extra yarn may be required.
