ORLA cowl is the matching accessory to Orla sweater. It features the same fascinating texture surrounded by delicious garter stitch.
Loose yourself in this perfectly small project and create your own feel good accessory. It’s an ideal project to use up some sweet left over yarn. The cowl is worked seamlessly in the round one half at a time. Starting with a provisional cast on allows for identical edges at the top and the bottom as well as it makes seaming unnecessary.
The design uses DK weight yarn to keep you warm and cozy. Alternatively you can use light fingering weight yarn held double (which equals DK weight) and create your very own look.

Construction:
Orla cowl is worked seamlessly in the round one half at a time. You’ll start with a provisional cast on and work the first half, then undo the cast on to work the second half in the opposite direction.

One size
Height: 30cm/12inches
Circumference: 50cm/20inches

Yarn:
Approx. 190-210m / 208-230yards of DK weight yarn.
Or double amounts of light fingering weight yarn held double (which equals DK weight).

Sample is worked in Sarah by Permin (light fingering weight 50% merino, 50% shetland wool) held double, 883605 medium gray.

Gauge:
21 sts / 34 rows = 10cm / 4 inches in garter stitch in the round on 3,5mm/US 4 needles, blocked.

Instructions:
The pattern includes written directions as well as both charted and fully written instructions for the textured elements. Video quick guide links are included for the provisional cast on method and the icelandic bind off method.

Skill level:
Intermediate.
Stitches used include: knit, purl, slipped stitches, elongated stitches, cabled stitches (there is no need for a cable needle but one can be used if you’re feeling nervous about having a stitch hanging freely), bobbles (which are worked on the right side only).
Techniques used: knitting in the round, provisional cast on, icelandic bind off.
