This cowl is for really cold people, like Wildlings and the Night’s Watch north of the wall in the series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. It’s named after Osha, a Wildling who helps Bran and Rickon survive when they leave Winterfell: she knows how to stay alive in the frigid northern forests. The Osha cowl references evergreen trees with a special lace motif and will keep you warm through even the longest winter.

The large needles and simple lace make this a good beginner lace project or a last minute knitted gift!

  • I suggest using TechKnitter’s SYTK method for a neater looking ssk (left leaning decrease).
  • The German Twisted cast on is suggested and instructions are provided at the end of the pattern. You may use this method or your favorite stretchy cast on.

Happy knitting!
