Otis is an eccentric but friendly little dog looking for a good home. Made with soft 100% cotton, Otis stands about 10 inches tall and makes a great companion or a sweet accent to a child’s room décor.

Otis has a friend named Clara, and you can purchase both patterns for just £3.50. Simply add both patterns to your cart and the discount will be automatically applied at checkout.

There are no complicated stitches in this pattern, however a familiarity with simple toy construction or willingness to learn is required. Under those conditions the pattern is suitable for an advanced beginner.

As with most toys, the yarns listed are merely a suggestion and you can easily substitute your favourite yarn or use what’s available in your stash.

I used Rico Essentials Cotton DK for the hat and bow tie to create textures that contrast with the Debbie Bliss Cotton DK, but just about anything from your stash will do, (just keep in mind whether you want to retain the machine washability of the toy when using fibres other than cotton). Also remember to adjust the hook size if necessary and that your finished toy may be a different size depending on your substitution(s).

The facial features may be done with safety eyes and noses, embroidery, or a combination of both.

NOTE: The Debbie Bliss Cotton DK is heavier than most DK yarns. If you substitute a different yarn a worsted weight might be best. Using another DK yarn may result in a smaller toy, using worsted weight may result in a slightly larger toy. Also remember to adjust your hook accordingly if necessary.
