Remember that feeling when, as a kid, instead of a toy you got pyjamas and socks as a birthday present?
This pullover aims to be more than just some pullover. Since I’ve noticed that my baby girl and all her friends are very fascinated by the hands and their movement, I wanted to make her a sock or finger puppet. BUT… She tends to take everything off and lose things. She enjoys that. So, I incorporated the sock puppets into the pullover to save my sanity.
It is mainly a pullover, a pullover with turnable cuffs so that the cuff covers the hand, keeping it warm and also, becomes a toy. A toy for Your special little someone to tell you all about their adventures - anytime, anyplace.
I decided to use a 100% cotton yarn so that I can wash it in the washing machine together with the rest of clothes full of attached food.
I used Ice Yarns’ Camilla Cotton yarn, which is a sport weight 100% cotton yarn. The manufacturer calls for 3 mm (US 2.5) needles, but since cotton tends to shrink and become stiff after washing, I went to one size up and worked with 4 mm (US 6) needles. Be sure to check your gauge after washing and blocking.

Worked top-down, seamlessly except for the sock-puppet-cuffs with ears that are sewn down. Worked back & forth in rows to make the button band at the yoke, then joined for working in the round with sleeves put on hold on waste yarn. The body’s bottom part worked in two colours using the stranded knitting method. The sleeves are worked in the round on double pointed needles and the ears are knit and attached last.

Skills required
Knit & purl, cast on & bind off, increasing, decreasing, working in the round on circular needles, working small circumferences on double pointed needles, working from charts, stranded colourwork, intarsia, picking up stitches, mattress stitch, chain stitch.
