This is a pattern for a very light weight shaw, made using fingering weight yarn. It’s heavier than a wedding ring shawl, but just the ideal weight for a spring or fall evening, or even if you’re sensitive to air conditioning in the summer. It knits up fairly quickly and would make the ideal gift, for yourself of someone that’s special to you.

The shawl is made up of a single lace stitches that is charted. The focal lace stitch is a variation of different leaf lace patterns, and comes to us from Russia. The final size is 22 1/2 inches by 72 inches.

There are also instructions for an optional edging contained within the pattern, should you want it edged.

Skill Level: Beginner + - Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting). It is suitable for a beginner with a little bit of lace experience.

The yarn used in the sample is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Soulmate in colorway periwinkel. It requires approximately 1200 yards of yarn and is knit on a size (U.S.) #5 needle. this yarn is discountinued, a goo substitue would be Handmainden’s Mini - Maden.

The shawl was expertly test knitted by Beverly Long, who can be reached at: Blong39@hotmail.com
