Pattern description from Handknit Holidays: “In colonial America, long stockings that extended over the knee were a staple of a man’s wardrobe. Not so here. Cindy Taylor’s pair is decidedly feminine in its details - a mock-cable heel flap, a form-fitting shape, and most notably an eyelet cable ‘seam’ up the back, reminiscent of old-fashioned silk stockings are a great way to keep cozy under a holiday skirt, or to add an extra layer when taking the dog for a walk. A unique blend of merino wool and linen gives them a beautiful natural color and ensures they’re as strong as they are soft.”

Finished Measurements: 19.5 inches from back of heel to top of thigh, 12.75 inches from back of heel to high of toe

Yarn: Haneke Exotics (65% merino wool / 35% linen; 164 yards / 1.75 ounces): 4 skeins #10 beige

Needles:

  • One set of five double-pointed needles (dpn) size US 3 (3.25 mm)
  • Change needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions: Three stitch markers (2 a different color than the third), 2 stitch holders, cable needle, yarn needle.

Errata:
The Ankle Chart on page 84 contains an error. The first cable on Round 8 should begin on stitch 1, not stitch 2 as shown.
