English

Overlook is a triangular lace shawl, knit from the top neck down to the bottom edges.
Lace patterning is on right side rows only, with each wrong side row being a “rest row”. Each row has easily remembered 8-stitch pattern repeats.

Pattern is charted only, and includes a table of row-by-row stitch counts.

There are 2 versions available for download, with one being a smaller file with one large chart (OverlookCondensed.pdf) Both versions will be available in your Ravelry library with purchase.

Modification notes:
The shawl can be made bigger/smaller by working more/less repeats of Chart A:Rows 13 thru 28 (16 - row pattern repeat). Additional yarn will be necessary if more repeats are desired.

This shawl can be knit in any weight yarn, using needles that are at least a few sizes larger than what is recommended for that yarn. Any changes will differ the amount of yarn necessary, and the finished measurements.
Example: Ray’s test shawl in Noro Silk Garden Sock Solo (pictured here in red), with Size US 7/4.5mm and US 8/5mm needles used 777 yards (3 skeins were necessary)

Materials:
600 yards (549 meters)/150g fingering weight yarn (approx 558 yards (510 meters)/140g used)
US 6 (4 mm) 32“ circular needle
US 7 (4.5 mm) 32” or longer circular needle
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle
Blocking supplies

Gauge: (not crucial)
20 stitches x 32 rows in 16-row pattern repeat (chart A, size US6 needles) = 4”/10cm blocked

Finished Measurements:
approx 30“ from neck to bottom point x 74” wingspan (76 x 188 cm) relaxed after blocking (shown in photos marked “ObliviousKnits” - knit in Dragonfly Fibers Pixie in Winter Woods)

Huge thanks to Ray for test knitting Overlook, over and over again, and providing pictures and James for the tech help:) Ray’s aggressively blocked sample measured approximately 36” x 76” (91cm x 193cm) Knit in Orange Jellyfish Dream Silky Merino. These photographs are marked “Ray and James”
