Owl fingerless/thumbless gloves/mitts in double-knit wool with an owl’s face and chest on the front and separate ears at the top. The backs of the gloves are plain.

The mitts in the photographs have been hand knitted using the intarsia method in chocolate brown Rowan Felted Tweed DK pure wool which has flecks of cream, light brown and blue. The owl’s face is in cream with ruby red and black eyes and beige beak. His chest is rust flecked tweedy wool. The ears have been attached to the mitts behind the top ribbing.

Each glove is approximately 8.5cm/3¼” wide and 16cm/6 long from edge of cuff ribbing to top of mitt (not counting the ears).

Instead of using intarsia, the mitts could be knitted in plain stocking stitch and the motif pattern added afterwards by Swiss Darning/Duplicate Stitch.

The pattern includes typed instructions for the shaping and graph charts for both left and right mitt.
