Skill level: Intermediate
If you want to knit this shawl you should know how to knit, purl, increase and make basic brioche. Due to the large size, I do not recommend this pattern for learning brioche. it is not hard, but in last section you will have over 500 stitches to work with.

Inspiration
All my patterns have geographical names - this time I want to honor a well known university because this shawl is a great learning opportunity and a lot of fun - just like studying.

About the pattern
Oxford shawl is a little bit of everything to avoid boredom - relaxing garter, colors and stripes fun, texture and 2 color brioche. And it is all placed on a massive top-down shawl of unusual angular shape and it’s framed with contrasting icord bind-off.

Front wedges and V shape neckline make it possible to wear the shawl without shawl pins or any other holders - it sits still on the shoulders where it should be without slipping. When it is on the body it looks like a poncho and creates a similar effect.

Yarn
The shawl is designed for 4 full skeins of fingering weight superwash wool yarn 400 meters / 437 yards 
100 grams / 3.5 ounces. I used up my balls with almost no leftovers, as well as my test knitters.

For the best result use the same yarn base with all of 3 colors - it will give the best result especially in brioche sections. If you have a problem choosing matching colorways consider using yarn from same dyer or manufacturer - usually they match each other quite well.

For yarn substitution look for superwash skeins with high wool content - their tendencies to grow are accommodated in this pattern. It is possible to make this shawl using larger scraps - you will need 30-60 grams per section, yarn usage in every section is specified in the pattern.

You’ll need 1 skein of contrast color (C2), 2 skeins of the main color (C3) and 1 skein of another colorway (C1).

The sample was made with one of my favourite yarns: Mirella Włóczki Warmii in colorways:

C1 Cappuccino (light grey) - 1 skein

C2 Mirableki (yellow-orange) - 1 skein

C3 Mokka (dark brown) - 2 skeins

Sizing
The pattern is availible in one size - big and cozy shlanket
about 160 cm / 63 inches wingspan 

about 90 cm / 35 inches in the deepest point

The pattern was test knitted and proofread by English speaking people.
