The Padfoot socks pattern is a cuff down pattern, which includes both the written instructions and the chart.

The Padfoot socks pattern was inspired by the character Sirius Black in the Harry Potter book series by J.K. Rowling. Sirius Black is a wizard who turns into a Dog and also happens to be my favorite character. Shelby of Shelby B’s Designs dyes beautiful colorways inspired by the Harry Potter series and she asked me what my favorite character in the series was so that she could send me a thank you skein of yarn. When I mentioned Sirius Black, a character she had yet to create a colorway for, she decided to create one for me. After receiving this beautiful colorway in the mail, I immediately started thinking I wanted to design a pattern for it. It took me a while to decide since the colorway has so many great colors with an overall dark color. In the end, I came up with the Padfoot sock.
