In Attack of the Clones, Padmé Amidala, former Queen and current Senator of Naboo in the Galactic Republic Congress, joins Anakin Skywalker in battle to attempt to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi from Count Dooku. Strong willed, regal, and quick thinking, Padmé can hold her own in a fight and is essential in ensuring their survival in the arena on Geonosis. While most of Padmé’s costumes are made out of flowing silk and lace, the wrap she wears in the conveyor belt scene on Geonosis is thick and warm—the perfect garment for a Star Wars fan looking for a simple costume replica project.

Knit in two pieces, the first piece is worked from the outside in starting with a twisted rib edging. An easy knit-and-purl basketweave pattern is then worked to the middle, and the center stitches are put on hold. After the back piece is worked, the long edges are joined using a three-needle bind off, with the center stitches joined into the round and worked in a twisted rib collar. Wear your battle wrap long and open, or wrap it around your shoulders and secure it with your favorite shawl pin.
