This hat is worked from the top down. The crown is worked flat and the body of the hat is picked up and worked in the round. I’ve included some diagrams to help with the assembly of the crown which is actually rather simple. A set of 4 dpns will be all that’s needed to finish the hat unless you prefer to use a circular.

I used one skein of a self-striping yarn for the original hat but be aware that your version will not be identical to mine. There were only a few yards left so if you want a longer hat you’ll need to purchase 2 skeins. Other yarns can be substituted, of course. If you use a thinner or bulkier yarn, you hat will end up smaller or larger so keep that in mind. If you have enough yarn left in your skein, you can make the hat longer if desired.
