INTRODUCTION: Painting Blossoms Shawl was designed for Dye Hard Yarns’ BIPOC box series. I was partnered up with Aquarius Make, a yarn dyer from Michigan where I am currently based! Fatima of Aquarius Make custom dyed colors for our collaboration. My inspiration for the colors were from one of my favorite murals in Eastern Market, Detroit. The mural is by Ouizi, a colorful floral painting on a royal blue wall. I used lace stitches to represent the florals and let the variegated, speckled yarn create a painterly effect.
