Colorful trees, chilly mornings, dark nights - autumn is here at full speed. I do not mind leaving summer behind - the change is invigorating, and also means that I can wear all those lovely, cabled sweaters again:) And making new ones….
Paniculata is new for this season; making a fusion between classic cable-patterns, twisted stitches, double seed-stitch and a modern silhouette; a straight, boxy body with straight sleeves for comfort and relaxed wear. Great on it’s own with favourite jeans or a nice pair of trousers, and perfect under a coat as the straight sleeves don’t take up much room.

ve The sweater is knitted in the simplest possible way; in the round and bottom up to armpits; where work is divided and back and front are continued back and forth. Shoulder-“seams” are made up using the three-needle bind-off method, stitches are picked up along the armholes and the straight and sleeves are worked in the round and top-down, with ease for instep. Sttiches are picked up for neck-edging. I added a short buttonhole-band in the side for more interest. No seaming, except for a short inch for the necklines button-band. Length for body and sleeves could easily be modified.

Please allow several inches of positive ease when choosing size! The sweater is supposed to be roomy and comfortable, and thanks to the narrow sleeves it will not look bulky.

The knitting would suit an intermediate to advanced knitter.
The knitting instructions give charts for the cable-patterns as well as row-by-row instructions. Please bear in mind that the double seedstich pattern will grow if steam-blocked.

I worked the heavenly soft Alpaca DK from Artesano Yarn to work this sweater of which you will need 1000/1100/1100/1300/1300/1500/1600 metres. You have to respect gauge if choosing an other wool to work with.

Please note There was an error found in the pattern concerning the the length of sleeve. Pattern is completely revised per the 26th of April 2015.
