In 1851, opera singer Jenny Lind, “The Swedish Nightingale,” declared Northampton to be the “Paradise of America.” We certainly aren’t ones to disagree. The name has stuck, and now twice a year, Northampton is home to the Paradise City Arts Festival, one of the country’s leading showcases for contemporary crafts and fine art. This stunning blanket, knit in mitered squares that are picked up and knit on as you go and not sewn together, will make you sing for joy. And, in these small squares, Valley Yarns Rainbow simply sings with color. We find the shades reminiscent of the gorgeous iridescent glazes used on some of the glassware and pottery that can be found at the festival.
