The idea for the Passing Through Hat and Mitts came from the decorative ironwork on the doors that divide the old ticket lobby from the concourse. The vines (or are they hearts?) are mimicked by dropped stitch cables that run up the hat and decrease down into a reverse stocking-stitch crown. Two-by-two rib provides a neat and tidy brim.
