Started with one stitch and worked towards the base, this simple triangle is enhanced with a garter stitch border that increases subtly through yarn overs. Horizontal garter stripes at the wide base of the shawl add textural and visual interest.

The finished size has a wingspan of 50” and a back length of 23”.

A good project for the advanced beginner, basic knit and purl skills are built on with knit 2 together, knit in the front and back of the stitch, and yarn overs.

The pattern is written for fingering weight yarn; any weight of yarn and a comparable needle size will work. Just be aware that using a different weight of yarn will change the finished size of the shawl and the amount of yarn used.

Needle size is US 5 (3.75mm), and in the sample, nearly all off the 460 yards of color A was used, and about half of the 115 yards of color B was used.
