I love Advent … I think I might even like it more than Christmas day itself! There’s something special about the anticipation, and the waiting, which is why the pattern is called Patience

Work on a section of your cowl every day on the run up to Christmas: it will seem like such a little thing, but if you spend a small amount of time each day, you will have created a wonderful knitted accessory by the 25th December.

Designed especially with mini-skein advent calendars in mind, the Patience Cowl will work equally well with larger or smaller mini-skeins or with leftover yarn (5g, 10g or 20g mini-skeins). It is fab for fade-effect yarns, speckles or variegated yarn too.

Construction
Patience is a striped cowl worked in the round, beginning with a band of 2x2 rib. For the main body of the cowl, two-thirds is worked in stocking stitch and one-third in a ‘swirl’ of reverse stocking stich that moves around the cowl as you progress. The one-round striping of the mini-skeins creates a wonderful fade effect.
