This square is very American in design using the red-white-blue color palette and centered star surrounded by strips of color. TThis pattern also uses a crossed double crochet stitch to mimic stars around the square as well.

Although the instuctions are hopefully quite clear, rounds 2 and 3 are considered to be the most difficult, since round 2 works in the front loops of round 1 and then round 3 is worked the back loops of round 1 also. With theexception of the first two rounds which are worked in the same color, all other colors are fastened off at the end of each round. The invisible join method really works well with this project. (Tutorials can be found for this method on YouTube.)

You can vary the stitch on the last round to obtain the correct finished size.

For this block small amounts of Red Heart’s White, Bright Red and Blue (75 yards or less each) were used. A size H(5.0mm) hook and yarn needle are also needed.
