Description: Now you can be a Peacock Girl! Nine feather motifs join to make this airy shawl, reminiscent of those noble birds that we all admire. Starting with the border, this shawl is quickly worked on large needles, so you’ll be strutting your stuff in no time. And here’s a little trivia… a group of peacocks is called an “ostentation.” So if anyone ever tells a Peacock Girl that she looks ostentatious, her proper reply is, “Thank You!”

This single-skein shawl pattern is worked on recommended US Size 11 (8mm) needles, and has a generous wingspan of approximately 62”. Instructions are provided in text and chart.

Measurements: Wingspan approximately 62”; width approximately 32”

Yarn Requirements: Sock-aholic® Serene, 1 skein (approximately 450 yards of light fingering weight yarn required)

Gauge: Approximately 14 sts = 4” in Stockinette Stitch.

Needles: US Size 11 (8mm), 40” or similar.

Accessories: Stitch markers, a cable needle (or similar), and a blunt-tipped darning needle to weave in ends.

About the Yarn:

Sock-aholic® Serene is dyed by hand at Knitters Brewing Company using a wonderfully soft 4-ply Luxury Sock Yarn made from 50% FS Alpaca, 30% Fine Merino, and 20% Tencel. Each skein contains 470 yards, and knits at a gauge of 7-9 stitches per inch using size 1-2 needles. This yarn is fabulous for warm yet lightweight garments, and its softness makes it a pleasure to handle and wear.

Washing Instructions: Hand washing in cool water is recommended to prolong the life of any hand-knit or hand-crocheted item. Roll in a towel to remove excess water (do not twist or wring), and lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight.
