Description

Mittens featuring cables used to organically shape the cuff and top. The palm can alternately be opened to make fingerless gloves inside to produce what is commonly called convertible mittens.

The inspiration behind this particular pair resulted from a car with a leaky tire. After having to put air in the tire during several cold winter days and needing to pull off my mittens each time exposing my fingers to the frigid temperatures, I decided to make this mitten/glove combo so that only the tips of the fingers needed to be exposed.

Tips

These mittens are made with a tight gauge to keep out winter winds. If you choose to use a handpainted yarn, try to keep the colors in the same family so it doesn’t distract from the cable design. A solid color will be just as pretty and may highlight the texture even more.
