Peeps in a Row Knit Snuggle
Pattern calls for 2 strands of contrasting worsted weight yarns held as 1 strand, and allows knitter to decide what size finished mat will be, determined by number of cast-on stitches (multiple of 4 sts + 2 + 2 edge sts).
from The Snuggles Project website
"With Easter approaching, make these Snuggles in pastels or your favorite Peeps colors.
"The Snuggles Project was founded by our president Rae French, in 1996. ...the security blankets are called 'Snuggles'.
"...most shelter animals are kept in areas with stainless steel braces and hard plastic flooring or even bare concrete floors. The Snuggles would allow them to have a little reprieve from the coldness of the pen they are kept in.
"....while you are knitting, crocheting or sewing your Snuggles, please respect the originality and the future of the project and give credit where credit is due."
