The peliqueiro is an unmistakable figure of the entroido (carnival) in Galicia. It´s typical of the area of Laza in Ourense. They receive this name from the pelica, the animal skin fur that they carry in the back of the pantalla.
During the entroido they cross the streets of Laza making sound the chocas (bells) that are hooked in the part of behind. In the hand they carry a zamarra like a whip to hit the people who cut them off.

This is a pattern to make one of them. It´s tipical of Galicia. Such a beautiful a colorfull galician tradition that i love.
