The Pembrokeshire Poncho

**
The featured knit of the 2018, Fiber Art Studio Tour in central Maryland.

DESCRIPTION
This is a modern take on a very ancient idea. In mid-evil times this was called a “mantle” because the front and back are not symmetrical in length and can be worn either side forward! So very cool! If you need more free space for your arms to move, wear it short side forward. If you need a cozy cover up, wear it long side forward.

MATERIALS
10 Mini-skeins, Fingering/sock, #1 wt., 100 yards each
US size 4 or 3.5 mm straights and circulars w/ 32” cables
Tapestry needle & markers

GAUGE, SIZING
Since this is the featured knit of the 2018 - Fiber Art Studio Tour, it was designed and written for the activity of collecting souvenir mini-skeins from each Indie-dye artist on the tour. We knew that even though everyone was working with fingering-sock weight yarns, there may be some variation. So, gauge is really not important.
Furthermore, the pattern is flexible in that you could make it with eight to ten, 100 yard mini-skeins. This also means, that the sizing is very inclusive - essentially one size fits all. It will be larger if you use all 10 mini-skeins.

YARN AND COLOR
The theme colors for 2018 were: Blue, Green, Grey and White.
The sample and photo were made with Pendragon yarn from Avalon Springs Farm which is a fingering weight, superwash merino yarn. However, each tourist will collect a completely unique combination of mini-skein and the colors will be limitless. You can arrange your mini-skeins to your liking. It may be helpful to think about possible organizations: contrasting colors next to each other, or colors with some connection or transitional element next to each other, from dark to light, or completely random.

SKILL LEVEL
We thought this was an Intermediate level pattern.
Knowledge of the following is needed:
Knit, Purl, Place & Slip marker, Yarn over, K2tog, and M1R & M1L (this is slipping a needle R and L under yarn between stitches, with more detail in the pattern).
