Penta can be worked two ways: as a round blanket worked from the centre out using a worsted weight yarn, or a rounded shawl worked from the inner circle to the outer edge using a fingering weight yarn.

The samples shown in the magazine use the following materials:

Blanket

A small amount of waste yarn to provisionally cast on 10 stitches.

4 skeins Blue Moon Fibre Arts Targhee Worsted in colourway Lauma - each skein has 615 y / 563 m per 8.8 oz / 250 g skein

5mm circular needles in a variety of lengths to take you from small-circumference knitting (10 stitches to start) to a very large border (a 32” AND a 40” used at the same time to hold all of the stitches at the end)

40 stitch markers or waste yarn to use as markers.

Cable needle

Shawl

A large amount of yarn to provisionally cast on 322 stitches.

4 skeins Blue moon Fibre Arts Worthy Fingering in colourway Star Sapphire, 437 y / 399 m per 3.5 oz / 100 g skein.

3.5 mm / US 4 circular needle 40” or longer
4 mm / US 6 circular needle 24” or longer
